How did you hear about FireEye? Why did you choose FireEye?
I first heard about FireEye in a course I took during my spring semester of grad school on Cyber Warfare, in which we read FireEye’s APT1 report. After taking the course, I became very interested in learning more about the cyber threat intelligence career field and figured there was no better company to learn from than a renowned industry leader like FireEye. I was fortunate enough to be selected for their Summer Internship Program, and have been working on the Strategic Intelligence Analysis team ever since.
What is the most interesting thing you have learned?
The most interesting thing I have learned throughout my time at FireEye has been the sheer scale and sophistication of today’s cyber threats. Being able to see the latest breaking developments in cyber security first-hand and having the opportunity to speak with a subject matter expert down the hall about what it signifies has been a truly eye-opening experience.
What has been your favorite part of your internship so far?
My favorite part of the internship so far has been researching and writing a regional profile for Latin America. Much of my academic and professional experience prior to moving to DC was focused on the region, and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to learn about the cyber threat landscape of a part of the world that I have always been fascinated with.
What would your advice be to a student pursuing an internship at FireEye?
I would advise students pursuing an internship at FireEye to speak with as many people as possible during your time here to learn about all the different opportunities that are available throughout the company. FireEye is one of the best recognized names in the cyber security industry, and for good reason; it offers a range of services and capabilities that few others can. Between consulting, intelligence, incident response, business development, and support, there are so many interesting and exciting roles that there will be a good fit for anyone who takes the initiative to find it.
